Increase Your Brain Efficiency

in #life7 years ago

Some people have higher IQ due to hereditary, experiences, good habits and so on but the good news is everyone has enormous brain power that we have not been using a very very high percentage of. We live in a creative world, the amount of your creativity or how efficiently you use your brain will likely determine how successful you will become. And been on Steemit, we all need to harness more our brain power and its efficiency to attain some level of success here.

Whatever level you are, you can actually improve on your intelligence and make your brain more effective. I have a strong believe everyone wants to be smarter. Regardless of your age or your IQ, you can become smarter by training, engaging your brain and giving it special care. Here are the few tip to increasing the efficiency of your brain.

Don't shy away from puzzle and brain games

One smart and fun way to get the best out of your brain is brain games and puzzle. They require some level of deep thinking, concentration and focus. you can almost feel the effect of playing some games on your brain with slight headache. So I advice you always take some time out of your busy schedules to play games that will challenge your brain and improve its power. Games like Sudoku puzzles, chess, scrabble, crosswords etc. put your brain to work and sharpened in the process.

Avoid Stress

One of the greatest enemies of your brain is stress. I admit you may be able to completely stay away from stress and stressful situations, it is important not to allow yourself get overwhelmed by them. We often noticed it becomes very difficult for us to think straight when stressed out. Whenever you are feeling stressed, take some time away from everything and everyone and look for a quiet and calm place to relax, you will probably get to think the situations through when relaxed and also realize they are not worth getting worked up over. Take time out and away to clear your mind every now and then.

Shun Technology when you can.

Modern technologies have made a lot of us mentally lazy. Don't be too quick to head to the easy way out. Engage your brain in mental activities. Use your brain more and modern technology less. Calculate simple arithmetic with your brain instead of running to the calculator for a bail out. Learn new vocabularies and tasks your brain to remember them. Don't be open a dictionary or encyclopedia every time you are trying to recollect the appropriate word or you cant remember the spelling of a word.

Always get enough sleep

7 - 8 hours is highly recommended for your brain to perform efficiently. Your brain will be busy mostly consolidating all what you leant in one way or the other during the day while your sleeping at night. Without sleep or adequate sleep, you may not be able to do things especially thinking normally which we in turn have a knock effect on your mental health and efficiency. Adequate sleep is essential for your overall health.

Eat food that are healthy for your brain

Eat healthy. Our brain consume a high percentage of the nutrients in our diets for it to function efficiently. Ensure you regularly eat foods that help improve memory and improve brain functioning - Vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, broccoli and berries plus food rich in omega 3 such oily fishes help in the overall function and efficiency of the brain. So pay close attention to what you eat.

Read books and learn new things.

Reading create new picture for your brain, you learn new words and ideas which you may never come up with on your own. Reading present you new challenge and help you bring out your thinking cap which can improve brain efficiency and makes you more intelligent. Reading open up a new world of adventures, cultures, places and so on while on the same spot. Read new books, new topics every time and help your brain improve its efficiency.

Try new things

Experience new stuffs...go to places you have never been, engage in activities you have never performed before, try new route, meet new people, try new recipes. All these stimulate and refresh your brain. Same old thing can become boring. Create new experience for yourself and give your brain new information to build something on and improve its efficiency.

Thanks @golddeejay! Great tips! I’d love to be able to get 7 hrs sleep a night 😂😂

Very nicely written post with interesting information. Our brains are like our muscles: they get stronger with exercise!

@shimster, you hit the nail on the head. The more we use it, the better it becomes.

Yes..I accept!

Very nice post, and sooo educational. The book "Keep your brain alive" by Manning Rubin, Lawrence C. Katz is my favorite one on this subject 💚

Yes, all really good points. Taking on challenges, and making it a point to "think out of the box" is good. That is something I have to remind myself to do. Try to be creative, and think of solutions, as well as other ways to do things, and I think, doing exercise also causes a certain stimulation clearing of the brain.

Great tips! I should do the sleep enough and play puzzle/brain training games more. The rest I get to do more than the two I mentioned.
