RE: Part 11 – La Gonâve, Haiti - A Vision of Regeneration for a Degraded Land and Impoverished People – Regenerative Business

in #life8 years ago (edited)

It will take a lot of trust to form a cooperative business with the locals, seeing as they are very wary of outsiders. Culture consideration is a very important part of making deals of this sort.

To build trust you should look into trying to make the owners of the lands come up with the suggestion of your companies, with your guidance. That way they will feel that it is their idea, and more likely to cooperate with the plan as a whole.

You can try to gather them all together, state the problems of the land (or have the locals say what they think is wrong) and then have them brainstorm ideas to fix it, let all ideas out. During that you can say your idea, or take parts of your idea and add it to theirs. Piece by piece add it together until it seems that both you and the locals created the plan together.

I have an article on this in my back pocket, probably will post it this weekend when I don't feel like writing. :D
OH, and now you got me watching the Haitian revolution video when I am supposed to be finishing my articles! Love history.

lol, yeah, you get some good historical stuff! Haiti's is really fascinating. The time with the historian was amazing, and he could answer just about every question I had.
It sounds like you might have already read my article for tomorrow? :P
Jean Rony has already discussed this idea with the landowners up on Happy Dog. You may recall that he grew up there and his parents still live there. The ones he spoke with like the concept and voiced that it sounded like the best idea that's been presented to them. Of course, they could say "No". That's the beauty of it, in some ways. But this plan really doesn't bind them. It simply provides opportunity. I didn't want to set something up that could easily be turned against them.
If I can't get there to talk to them, it's a moot point. Tomorrow's will discuss that a bit, and see if anyone wants to get involved.
