My cathartic cat...

in #life7 years ago

Three weeks ago I started a new role with a company I had previously worked with for several years. I left in 2012 to start my own company and now have returned in a different role. I am thoroughly enjoying being back in the property industry and being back with this company. (And NOT working weekends.)

I'm kept pretty busy most of the day with the majority of my work being networking and relationship building. I'm the Business Development Manager and am responsible for winning new commercial and residential sales and leasing business. It's a reasonably broad role and takes up a lot of my time but having 14 years in the industry means I know a lot of people and have built lasting relationships.

Today I had one of those days in which I was bombarded with phone calls, 37 to be exact, had 5 appointments at my office and 2 at other locations. It was pretty hectic. Each appointment means coffee usually and with little time for lunch I found myself feeling a bit...Jittery. Too much coffee I think.

Usually driving home is a great break from work to home mode in which I listen to podcasts or music but tonight I was on the phone the whole way.

I arrived home somewhat stressed and pretty exhausted...And then I saw this little thing waiting for me at the door!

As soon as I step in she bounds about a metre in excitement, drops to the floor and goes upside down exposing her belly for a rub. It's amazing how this unconditional love and trust can melt away whatever has happened in my day instantly. I just feel the stresses of the day fall away as I rub her belly and say hello.

I think pets have an amazing way of soothing their owners. I feel so relaxed, instantly, on seeing and patting her after a difficult day and I assume it's the same for most owners and their pets. I read somewhere that pets are used as a form of treatment for old people and dementia sufferers as well. I can see why.

So, Friday night and two hectic days of weekend ahead...

Tomorrow I'm heading a couple of hours away into the country to do some shooting practice. Mainly shooting off different barricades and from unprepared positions. Then it's a (really fast) drive home for dinner and to watch Formula One qualifying live from Hungary.

Sunday will be spent gathering my gear for the shooting competition next weekend, checking and re-checking, then checking again. I have to prepare so many things and pack correctly as well. Flying with guns and ammo and shooting a competition almost 4,000km away from home is a logistical pain the the ass! Sunday night is seafood night for dinner and we'll watch the Formula One Grand Prix race live as well.

I hope you seemit champs also have a great weekend doing what it is you do!

All the best!
