I know some broken people, people who have been through things no one should have to endure and yet...They don't look broken or seem broken to anyone other than their inner circle. I guess that's a difference between inanimate objects like your necklace and a person; People can hide the fact they are broken. Sometimes.

Well, if I'd managed to put the necklace back together (which I didn't), it would hide the breaking too. But it would still have been broken ;)
All people are broken in some way.
