A Christmas celebration with BBQ crocodile

in #life3 years ago

I have seen some strange things on offer around this town over the 3 plus years I have lived here but I think this one takes the cake!

I am not opposed to eating crocodile, it just seems like a very odd thing to feature for a dinner at all, let alone for a promotional Christmas dinner. I'm sure there is no global shortage of these creatures and perhaps the place was just going for some shock value. Well, consider me shocked.

I didn't stick around long enough to actually see what it tastes like and many years ago I had some deep-fried alligator when I was visiting Georgia. I presume that it, as they say, tastes like chicken, just like everything else does. I recall alligator being chewy.

I suppose you could say that I kind of feel bad for this little guy but a larger one would probably just be terrifying, not to mention almost impossible to grill given the equipment that most people have. I think that if you are going to have a problem with eating some kind of meat, you kind of need to be opposed to eating all of it. You can't say that "eating crocodile is terrible" while munching on some friend chicken or a pork chop.

While other places were offering roast dinners and mulled wine, Radio Dublin decided to go the "weird" route and well, if that was their objective I believe we can say that the mission was accomplished. It's pretty great marketing too because a ton of people were IG this and tagging the location. In that regard I admire the promotional prowess of the owners.

Sorry if the pictures grossed anyone out.
