No One Ever Said Life Was Easy
Everyone leads a different path in life. Of course there are many similarities between us but no two lives are identical. Thus, the beauty of life.
One other constant is that we all experience struggle. Some experience it more dramatically than others. Most prevail but sadly for some, struggle leads to tragic consequences.
But just like anything worth coveting, it can be sweeter when we overcome struggle to obtain it. We earn our victory. So march on despite the challenges. The hard-fought rewards will hopefully be sweet.
THROUGH THE TREES
Thick heavy brush
Slows and delays
My every step
Impatient at times
I long to cut through its branches
And emerge across its barrier
Where all appears so lush
Fighting battles with muscles and sweat
Struck down by blows to my head
From ominous overhanging tree trunks
That may as well be made of lead
I muster the fortitude to battle on
The treacherous path labors to hold me back
But determination propels me forward
Despite harms threat
Although a metaphor
The struggles of one's journey
Through the forest of life is real
With bruised egos and broken hearts
Tragic injury and betrayed loyalty
It's fraught with struggle and sorrow
Yet we march on
Inspired by the lush paradise of our hard fought victories
Success is only lost to oneself
Our lone competitor
