We arrived at the Summit!
We get up very early to prepare the backpack before embarking on the route. Usually between "panas" always solves with something light: breads, cheese, ham, a juice, and ready! To climb the hill what you need is desire, and boy, because I tell you, the two most important points of the entire route, La Capilla or Cruz and La Piedra El Peñón, are more than a thousand meters high.
This mountain is the highest in the Carabobo state, it has a height of 1251 meters above sea level, and to reach the summit, it is necessary to travel a little over 4Km. The route is a wide path, with some very steep concrete sections that are known as "burriquitos" and test physical capacity. Along the way it is possible to find gorges and very good landscapes, in fact when climbing very early, between 6 and 7 am, you can appreciate the sunrise being one of the best views that the trip can give you.
We continue ascending, and in times of drought like the present the dust takes over the road, making the steps a bit difficult, we usually observe all-terrain vehicles and also many walkers on weekends. The route to the top can be exhausting due to the intensity of the sun and so usually the option of a "road cut" is taken, improvised routes a little narrower arranged as a stairway between the vegetation which is very helpful to refresh and recharge.
After some breaks, having traveled around 3 km and more than 1000 meters high, we find the Chapel, which offers a wide space covered with smooth stones that lends itself to breakfast, rest and follow the route to the river El Peñón where we can freshen up, rest in the shadows provided by the trees that surround the entire place
Once the batteries are charged, our next stop is La Piedra El Peñón, the highest point of the whole mountain that offers the view of the town as a whole and part of the neighboring municipalities. In the vicinity there are plains where many visitors find a perfect place to camp, make bonfires and share in the most natural way possible.
At this point the mobile coverage is behind, the conversations come face to face with the real friends, who accompany you until you reach the top.
great post, I would love to try this. I use to climb some of the mountains in Arizona.
