What makes a man a man?

The answer to this question can be interpreted in different ways. As we know, in a free society every person has his own opinion on different things and events. And everyone has the right to freedom of speech (it is, but not everywhere, of course, formally).

For some to be a man, it's just born to them (a similar situation develops with some women, but this is another topic). Someone believes that it is enough just to look stern, grow a beard, fill a couple of tattoos and pump up muscles. Some people think that it is necessary to pass a certain "rite" to become a man. Most often it is military service, some kind of heroic deed, to be helpful to the ladies, to save life drowning, to defeat evil and so on .... The list can be continued indefinitely, almost.
Different nations and nations, at different times there have been and still are rites of initiation. Well and certainly thanks to books and a cinema, many familiar with dedication in the man in ancient Sparta. But this has long been over, civilization is developing and norms are changing.
In my subjective opinion, being a man is something more. A man is determined by character. Any success is achieved either by luck (rarely) or by hard work. And in order to work hard and achieve certain goals, you need to be persistent, unshakable and cold-blooded. Most often these qualities are honed with years and experience. But nevertheless for all this is the character, for the weak-willed in this world are not happy.
Intelligence, confirm all of the above. Because through mental development, not a way to develop character. After all, a man, unlike a woman, is used to rely on intelligence and intelligence, and women tend to make emotional decisions. A man always reacts reasonably to the situation and is inclined to solve it in the same way.
Functional features, of course, are just as important. The man takes responsibility, not only because it is necessary and accepted, but because he is the main one and makes decisions, which sometimes have to be answered. There is always some purpose, it makes you get up in the morning, move and persist, fall and rise. Be that goal a family, career or something else.
Physically, a man must definitely be stronger than a woman, well, because in another way you can not. But in our time it is not necessary to be inflated by an athlete. In our time, problems are solved by the mind (cunning, cunning, forethought). Therefore it is important to be strong from within, strong character, and the main thing is not to give up never.
