On June 3, a large-scale eruption of the Fuego volcano began in Guatemala, from which the surrounding settlements - El Rodeo, Alotenango and San Miguel Los Lotes were severely affected. According to the latest data, 69 people died as a result of the eruption, more than 300 people were injured. The consequences of this disaster affected about two million people. The country declared a three-day mourning.

On June 5, the authorities of the country reported that seismographs show a decrease in the number of vibrations and volcanic earthquakes - this means that the eruption has come to an end and the volcano has returned to its normal activity.

I found some shocking photos that I want to share ..

People were not warned about it in time. Many lives could be saved if the authorities had taken measures to prevent and evacuate people. I am a condolent family who lost loved ones.

Sort:

I read that an entire village was lost in the eruption and that the death toll will most likely rise.. Truly a tragic situation. With the resent eruptions in Hawaii, I wonder if there is a geological connection between the two events, and if more are to come elsewhere..

I have not asked myself this question before. Perhaps there is a geological connection between these and future events. But if this is really so, then the community of geologists and scientists are obliged to warn the population of countries about possible disasters

Other than the theory of plate tectonics, there is so much geologists and scientists don't know about how it is all interconnected. I personally can't help but theorize that there is indeed a interlocking connection between earthquake and volcanic activity and events through out the world, and have thought so for many years.

Now I'm getting a second education. It is connected with geology. But the emphasis is on the extraction of minerals (oil, gas, explosions). But as far as I know now (from training), then plate tectonics has consequences. That is, they can be local and global. It is better when they are local and do not affect large tracts of land.
Are you interested in geology?

That is an interesting subject to learn about I would imagine. I have a friend in Oklahoma who has experienced a significant increase in minor earthquakes in her area due to a high volume of natural gas fracking there. I am very much interested in geology and have read quite a bit on the subject over the years.
