Walk.with.me #10: Phantasialand (Part 2) - RAIK, River Quest, Black Mamba, and A DRAGON!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #life7 years ago

After riding Phantasialand's hottest rollercoaster, we kept the momentum by going on a ride streak for the next hour or so.

The Next One was. . .

RAIK! Another recent addition to the theme park, family boomerang-style coaster RAIK is another world record-holder — it is the fastest and longest of its kind. Incidentally, there’s only so much thrill that curving back and forth at a gradient gives.

“The worst rollercoaster ever!” exclaimed the boys after getting off RAIK. They didn’t care for its short-lived, monotonous fun. I still think it’s a decent family coaster. The starting backward lift was a pleasant surprise after all.

A gentle drizzle started up again. It was the perfect time to ride River Quest, since our clothes were already getting lightly sprinkled!

Here’s our happy faces at the beginning of the River Quest ride before the big splashes started. After this, my phone was safely stashed in my waterproof winter jacket.

The drizzle had cleared up by the time we got off the ride. But we were drenched wet!! Someone had the brainwave that we might dry off if we sat on the Tower Ride next, since it would whip us up and down, creating a breeze that would hopefully aid in the drying process.

The Tower Ride is located inside a haunted Mystery Castle. The castle entrance is guarded by a movable ghastly figure that erratically makes a start toward random entrants. Eek!! I got a big shock there!! =D On the rest of the haunted walk, my nerves were set on edge..

The Tower Ride was surprisingly mild. We didn’t go up too high, and I discerned none of the ‘floaty’ sensation you normally get on similar theme park rides. Needless to say, our clothes didn’t get ‘blown dry' at all!

After several chillax rides, the boys were ready for another thriller coaster! We went to check the electronic board quickly. Look at all the incredibly short wait times!!

Such luck! We headed to. . .

BLACK MAMBA!! =D Black Mamba is in the Deep in Africa section of Phantasialand.

Black Mamba is an inverted coaster in which the seats hang below the rails. It was one of the most expensive roller coaster projects of its time. The track takes riders on a series of loops, screws, and tight turns, with a maximum gradient of 80° incorporated.

The last time I was in Phantasialand, the coaster was unfortunately under maintenance. With luck, it was available to visitors today. I grabbed a random shot of the boys as we headed gleefully towards the coaster.

I found the ride exceedingly fun. Though it was not as quick as TARON (a mere 80 km/h), I would rank it on the same level for its dizzying factor. Even my legs felt a little wobbly for the first 5 steps that I took after getting off the ride! =DD

How did The Mann and Rusty fare?

You guessed it! They were both rather ill after that, and clamoured for a break!

Fortunately, Rusty was still able to break out a big smile while posing with some of the artefact pieces of ‘Deep in Africa’.

We also got a photo with Dragon Kroka, the mascot of the 'Deep in Africa' section. There are five other dragon mascots representing the five remaining divisions of Phantasialand. Want to guess how many other mascots we managed to take photos with? ;)

We headed over the bridge towards the central Berlin section at the heart of the theme park for our break.

A merry-go-round surrounded by splashing water fountains greeted us.

Can you guess why The Mann has such a sad face on in this pic? ;)

Break Time!!

We sat down to give the boys’ bellies time to settle down. Strangely, they still could stomach snacking on sandwiches!

Part 3 will kickstart with the cool things we saw in the Berlin section! :)

Yeah, I think a lot of money went into designing it ;) Thanks for the comment @dbukyo!

Nice photo!! keep sahring a new post. Thank you.

Thanks for dropping by @creativewoman! Appreciate your comment.

heyy coool :))) the black Mamba looks dangerous :D

hehe I survived happily..you would too! but maybe wait till your arm is completely healed ;)

Looks like a fun theme park but I'll skip the roller coaster ride. Too old for that.

Nooo age is just a number!! You could ride the more chill roller coasters if they suit your taste better :)

Oh my god... that Black Mamba? Are you serious? :D

I would be done for the day after that and I can't understand how your male companions could still be hungry in the end...

The poor stomachs of the three of you...! (:

hehe it does look quite twirly doesn't it! I think it looks more scary than it actually is though..I kinda thought it was over too soon ;))

There're a lot of other chill rides in other zones of the park so I think you could calm your stomach there instead hehe..at least, that was my goal for the guys...hehe

Did the Tower dry you off just so you could get wet again? LOL! I officially call all three of you "Crazies" for getting on these rides; especially Black Mamba! My "cookies" would be thrown up all over the place. I really enjoyed your photos and I am looking forward to part three! :)

hehe there were actually big drying machines outside River Quest where other theme park goers were drying off..you feed the machine 1€ coins and warm air comes out and blows everyone standing in it.. we didn't try it out..it was fun but a little uncomfy to be wet for an afternoon.. ;)

I'm glad you didn't ride Black Mamba then..your cookies should stay where they belong..in your belly ;)) Will work on Part 3 today or tomorrow..need to catch up on comments and supporting others first :)

Drying machines? What a great idea! That is where I would have stayed. Looking forward to Part 3. :)

hehe it was tempting! Part 3 is already out :)
