Living Large With Less

In a small space, you have the ability to have more of everything. I have 186 square feet, but in that super efficient footprint is everything I could ever need. Living small gives me more time to live life and enjoy the world around me. It provides me time to explore and create. Because I have a small space, I waste little time in keeping it clean. In just a few minutes a day, it is always gleaming.

Another privilege of a small space is that I neither support the electric company, nor do I waste a lot of time filling propane tanks. During winter, when I use my propane heater, I fill my two propane tanks once a month. This runs my propane furnace and my refrigerator at a cost of about 40.00 a month. During spring and fall the tanks last two months at a cost of 20.00 a month. During summer my tanks last 3-4 months. If I am living on grid and using my electric lights, then my electric bill is about 15.00 a month. At other times, my batteries keep the lights on.

One of the first truths you will discover is that possessions do not bring you joy. In most cases they are distracting from the things that mean the most, like relationships and the natural world around you. Whatever you yearn to do, you will most likely discover you now have time.

I am an avid gardener/homesteader. I love to sew, craft, design solutions, crochet, can and dry things from my garden, and even freeze a few things. For this I require a little room and some storage. Learning the knack of  designing storage is a must.

Learn to have less, but live better. Keep your body in better shape, by eating less, but with quality. No room for junk or junk food. Make a new habit and learn to spend less, need less, and do less. Make choices that lead to quality decisions about what you really want to do. Learn to be content in the homestead, by getting creative in whatever way you enjoy. I love to garden, so all my houses look like a jungle. I like to eat less, so I can, dry, and freeze the fruits and vegetables of my garden. This way I can eat well, and do not need to eat those things my body doesn't need. I love to decorate and sew, so I spend my time in doing creative things and my money in supplies.

Living small is exciting and a clear journey in life.

Great perspective. In today's world everyone wants more more more and bigger bigger bigger.

Thanks. I decided to make the leap several years ago. I have never looked back or been sorry. In the things that matter, life became so rich.
