Terrorist attack at the Municipal Office in Borzęcin
"In the afternoon, desperate businessmen enter the commune office in Borzęcin. They are requesting a meeting with the commune administrator on the allocation of social housing. Petitioners barricade themselves at the secretariat, take hostages and threaten to fire the building and people if their request is not met.
Emergency services are being notified, evacuation of people from the building is ongoing. One of the desperate threatens the village head with a knife, demands a positive decision on his case. The mayor simulates a telephone conversation with a housing assignment worker and uses a counter to leave the secretariat with the offender. When under the pretext of making formalities leave the room, the Police will overwhelm the criminal and release the mayor from the hands of the terrorist. The other of the desperates still holds another hostage, desperate in the act of burning the room with a flammable substance. As a result of the fire the offender gets burns. The organizer of the exercise was the District Office in Brzesko. The theme of this year's multi-district exercise "Gryf 2016" is "Improvement of the system of managing the implementation of defense tasks with elements of crisis management in the Brest district under conditions of external threat to the state and during the war."
District exercise was conducted in two stages. Within the first stage, on October 4, In the permanent offices of the county, exercises were carried out covering the training issues of the organization and operation of the Chief State Administration and the Standing Under-Watch during an external threat to state security and war. The Police District Command implemented intensified defense measures of public utility facilities, secured courier routes and conducted anti-terrorist actions in Borzęcin Commune. The District Command of the State Fire Service was willing to carry out actions resulting from the threat posed. The Health Care Team in Brzesko launched the Emergency Call, monitored the situation and maintained its readiness to conduct rescue operations. Military Command of Supplements in Tarnów prepared and launched a courier action in the district.
During the practical exercise, Training elements such as launching notification and alerting procedures, cooperation of the services, their coordination and teamwork, evacuation of employees and applicants, conducting anti-terrorist activities in the premises of Borzęcin Commune Office, providing assistance and transporting injured persons to medical institutions.
