According to information provided by the ambulance in a fire that exploded on Tuesday night in the Grenfell Tower residential tower in the western part of the British capital, 12 people were killed.

Earlier, police reported six deaths and 70 injuries.

Rescue Services and London Mayor Sadiq Khan assume that the number of deaths may continue to increase. There were several hundred people in the building. Many people are still missing.

"I did not see anything of that scale"

At 2:00 pm, the London Fire Brigade announced that it expects another 24 hours to fire and search the burned-up skyscraper.

Fire chief Dana Cotton said that "in 29 years of working in the fire department, she has not seen anything of that scale," describing the event as "unprecedented."

More than 250 firefighters were approached by fire near the Latimer Road metro station. More than 100 people are involved in the rescue operation, including medical rescuers, medical specialists, emergency ambulance doctors and dispatchers in the crisis management center as well as 100 police officers.

Cotton added that the firefighters "saved a large number of people" from inside the building and that they reached the 20th floor of a skyscraper.

MSZ: Polish victim family

The Polish family was injured in a London skyscraper fire; The help is provided by a consul who is in touch with the immediate family - informed on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the afternoon, the Polish diplomatic ministry posted a Twitter entry saying that the consul "provides help to the Polish family in a fire in #Grenfelltower". As highlighted, he is also "in touch with their loved ones".

Residents warned

A group of Grenfell Tower residents wrote on their blog that their warnings were ignored. "We anticipated that this catastrophe was inevitable," they said. "The regular readers of our blog know that we have posted a number of warnings in recent years about very low fire safety standards at Grenfell Tower and other buildings in the neighborhood," they wrote, linking to a series of articles on the subject.

Dana Cotton, head of London's fire department, added that "within 29 years of her work ... she has not seen anything of that scale," describing the event as "unprecedented."

Inside the building, built in 1974, there were about 120 flats, most of which were municipal properties managed by the Kensington and Chelsea area authorities and the KCTMO property operator.

"Met all standards"

In the years 2015-2016 the building has undergone a major refurbishment, during which, among others. Windows were replaced and the façade reinforced. The group of residents of the Grenfell Action Group blog has published an article in which she commented that "only an incident that will result in the loss of life will allow an outside analysis to shed light on the actions that characterize the pernicious management of this non-functioning organization."

At the same time, residents accused the KCTMO building operator of creating "unsafe conditions for life" and "failing to comply with safety regulations" and warned that misleading property management "is a recipe for a future catastrophe."

In turn, the Rydon construction company responsible for last year's modernization of the 24-storey Grenfell Tower has emphasized that it meets all the requirements, including fire protection.

On Wednesday morning some of the evacuees complained that after the fire broke out, an alarm in the building did not occur.
