BEWARE to the Inexperienced mountain driving tourists...
The drive down to Sliding Rock State Park Route 89A ... was really windy, mountainous and beautiful. It is surrounded by many mountainous rock formations, and tons of trees, which was surprising to me as I thought Arizona consisted of nothing but cactuses and desert. We only went 35-40 mph around the winds and turns down 89A to the park. The height of driving through the mountains to this park... can be soooo exhilarating, but also soooo anxiety provoking for the inexperienced mountain traveler hah.

Despite the risky mountain driving, it's hard not to want to go back there... It's another one of those stunning places to enjoy life.
Arriving at Sliding Rock State Park
The park is tucked in some trees and features a nice icy cold river for those HOT Arizona days. Note: There is about a mile walk to the actual sliding rock and river area. The park is called Sliding Rock State Park as people can literally slide down the rock formation here. My little nieces and brother were obsessed with it. People seemed to really like it, especially all the kids around. There are some areas of shade, although some people brought umbrellas, and set up gazebo-like tents to obtain shade. It's a great area to catch some sun rays, but don't forget the sunscreen though - it's HOT! And easy to get sunburned here.

The entrance fee consists of paying for parking, includes 1-4 adults, and costs anywhere between $10.00 - $30.00 USD dependent upon the time of year one visits. Here is the website for more information on entrance fees, https://azstateparks.com/slide-rock/

Also, before you leave the area ... if you have time, check out Sedona, Arizona. It's not far from Sliding Rock State Park, only about 15 minutes away, and is also a beautiful place to visit. We drove through Sedona on the way back home and stopped at some local gift shops. There is an abundance of gift shops in Sedona where the traveler can grab some coffee, a quick bite to eat, souvenirs, or gifts for their friends and family back home.
[Sedona, Arizona] - This photo has a glare in it as I took it inside the Harley Davidson gift shop which overlooked the mountains you see in this picture... still worthy of sharing.
