RE: For those who think Nigerians are scammers

in #life6 years ago

man you said it yourself and generally you gave all the answers in your first paragraphs. It's just a stereotype and a lot of stereotypes are based on some truth so yeah a lot of Nigerians are scammers. On the other hand though not all Nigerians are scammers and that's works for every stereotype. Also the "Nigerian scam" is a specific type of scam that originated there but now a lot of people from all of the world use that method.

Nobody use Nigeria as a scapegoat, the same can be said once again for any country. You just got into the trap of some dumbasses (that as you said you don't pay attention or don't "blame" them) and got triggered by something.

If you must brand anyone a thief, brand EVERYONE instead of just a particular someone.

Ofc you won't brand anyone because it's not anyone, thief's are specific people so not only in my opinion you should say their originality but their background and names us well. It's like i say everyone is stupid or racist which is clearly not the case at all.

I get your point and frustration though cause like every nation my country is used for some stereotypical shits

It's not "a lot" considering the population size as against the total number of scammers (which is lower than some advanced nations)

told you the Nigerian scam is particular one and it became very known cause of Nigerian scammers. So during that time the majority of the scammers that used that tactic and still using it are Nigerians. Therefore that's why the stereotype came to life and hides some truth. The same applies with indian call center scams and stuff. (Have you ever heard a nigerian call center scam?)

The lot once again goes to the proportion of population compare to the same proportion in the past (of the same country) and then they compare it to some other countries, either third world or advanced. You can't compare a country with 1 million scammers and 1 billion population with a country of half a million scammers and 1 million population. You need to do this evenly. (the numbers are generic)

Also do you think that Nigerians aside the scam thing are citizens that do everything according to the law and don't do anything illegal? (start thinking the little thinks first not drugs, murders and stuff). If i take my country for example way too many people do illegal things and actions in their everyday lives but if you call them thieves they will find an "argument" to say.
