There's nothing like a wild apocalyptic event that wipes out the entire human race or some intelligent life forms who are capable of killing humans on a grand scale for no reason, we humans always tend to contemplate our survivability, therefore our scientists, physicists and even mathematicians spend a lot of time studying this very question, therefore they come up with a lot of different ''theories'' and probable causes to how humans might go extinct, With that lovely thought in mind, I'd like to give you the top most likely ways and remarkably plausible scenarios by which each and everyone one of us on the planet might go the way of all flesh ...

AI (Artificial intelligence) is intelligence exhibited by machines
As much as we love computers, our phones and those bad-ass robots we see at television or in the internet , machines had a huge role in our evolution, If we imagine the future we will all see ''Flying cars, Automatic machines that can do almost anything at this rate, considering the advancement in AI technology that exists today, there will come a day when they become so powerful that they not only exceed human intelligence , but result in our disappearance.

AI would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever increasing rate, Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn't compete, and would be superseded.
One day, machines will become so powerful that they not only exceed our human intelligence, but they will become capable of expanding their own intelligence to a point where humans are not only redundant, needless and ''dispensable'', but in their way of making the world a ''better'' place.
Nuclear War or Biological warfare
Mankind must put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind.
We all know how much humans are hardwired for war, Personally I think mankind is a violent specie , some scientists believe that humans could never achieve world peace, governments will always end up in declaring a war , and we all know "Bigger Guns Will Always Win'' and what's bigger then a nuclear bomb, All it takes is a single nuclear bomb hitting a large city to certainly wipe out an enormous number of people, It probably wouldn't end mankind. However, it's the retaliation '' The counter-attack'' of another bomb that could delete us all . An all-out nuclear war would quickly shove the earth with devastating levels of radiation and soot, rapidly and dramatically changing the climate in a way that it'd cause a worldwide scarcity of food, among other "unpleasant'' lovely scenarios.
Also a biological warfare could do the same damage all it takes is one mad scientist with enough money to create (engineer) a vicious virus (or bacteria depending on your desire) with the power to obliterate our entire civilization. And considering the advancement in DNA manipulation technology that exists today, such a truly horrifying scenario can occur.
Overpopulation
Considering the increasing rate of human population , Overpopulation is not ''ok'' with limited amount of Earth's resources, as we have already started overpopulating the earth ,the faster the climate is changing, the more people on earth the more the resources collapse, population will collapse, we are running out of room to plant food and people continue to have children.
water is polluted, trees are being chopped down , unemployment is up so much.
we need to stop populating so much..
Ozone depletion, lack of water, and pollution are not the disease—they are the symptoms. The disease is overpopulation. And unless we face world population head-on, we are doing nothing more than sticking a Band-Aid on a fast-growing cancerous tumor.
Overpopulation gives such things as disease a much easier pathway from human to human , no matter what disaster is being faced overpopulation might be the end of us.
Conclusion
Let's go back to the start of 2016,where Stephen warned about the dangers from nuclear war, overpopulation, genetically-engineered viruses and AI (artificial intelligence). Hawking warned that humans must colonize another planet or face extinction.
Considering all the scenarios that might cause the end of mankind, humans must study and take action to protect itself and to insure its survivability.
no matter what the scenario might be I truly believe that every problem has a solution , we have to look for its music , we have to see it from a specific angle, and that's how humans can fight their extinction.

I think we are going to become completely dependant on robots to do everything until we forget how to grow food and other basic survival stuff. Then we are one Windows update away from the whole system crashing and we all die.
It's a frightening thought, and all too real. Another thing that could happen is that a disease sweeps across the planet and kills off a large percentage of humans. It is estimated that the black plague killed off 30 to 50 percent of Europe's population between 1347 and 1351. Nowadays with the entire world interconnected by airplanes a plague would spread vastly more quickly.
I sometimes wonder if to the Earth humans are a type of parasite that she must from time to time try to shake off with disease and natural disaster for her own self-protection.
