Scientists have found an active volcano near Rome

in #life8 years ago

The volcano located approximately in 30 kilometers from the center of Rome was acting. The volcanic complex of hills known as Albani's Collie, had no historical records about eruptions therefore it long time was considered as an extinct.

Nevertheless, team of researchers from National institute of geophysics and volcanology in Rome found out that the volcano of the Collie of Albani is live, but already long time is sleeping. The analysis of breed of a volcano showed history of last eruptions which happened when Albani's Collie enters an eruptive phase that there are each 31000 years or about that. Volcanists led by Fabrizio Mar tracked last activity of the Collie of Albani by means of satellite data and land supervision.

They found out that in those areas where steam openings appear, the earth rises to two millimeters a year. Moreover, researchers found out that the area rose approximately by 50 meters for the last 200000 years that testifies to a magma exit. According to researchers, magma did not break on a surface because of breaks in a volcano muzzle in which it followed, remaining underground.

Scientists consider that the volcano will probably not increase pressure sufficient for explosive eruption during at least 1000, and eruption can be predicted in advance. They consider that at first there will pass several initial stages which will not be explosive.
