Visiting the physiotherapist for my wrists and making an appointment with a nutritionist. Time to get more serious.

in #life8 years ago

My wrists have been bothering me for a while so I made an appointment with a physiotherapist.

The meeting was today.

Of course, he had to ask what caused it and I came clean.

"I played SNES mini with my friend Ezzy and I practiced too much streetfighter combos", I said.

He looked at me funny.

"It's for work"

He almost rolled his eyes...

Of course, we all know it's not for work. It's for fun because that's what it is.

But I didn't want to tell him I'm (almost) unemployed. Maybe he wouldn't want me :)

He told me to take off my shirt and asked me to sit down.

He started to do all kinds of tests.

He sort of quickly found the problem.

It's in my neck.

One of my vertebrae is to 'tight' and it's pressing on a nerve.

Sounded pretty scary to me.

He told me he could do something about it with a few sessions.

Monday will be the first day.

He also told me I could do everything I normally do but when it starts hurting I should stop.

Sound advice I guess. Also means I can't do too much.

I then asked him a question about something I have been searching for, for a while.

I have been looking for a nutritionist (Bianca's one only speaks Portuguese) because the whole project Steemfat 3 has derailed and I need more help.

(that's why I haven't written about it much).

He gave me a number and I'm going there tomorrow morning at 8 am.

With me, it's usually when bad things start to happen to my body that I get a little extra motivation to get shit done.

It's the main reason I started to change my life 5 years ago and turned it around completely back then.

Again I see this as one of those moments.

Because, I sort of like my neck, wrists, hands and my body in general and to be honest it's fucking shit when it doesn't work properly.

It makes me worried regardless of what he said. And I don't like that feeling.

Asking for more professional help has never hurt me in the past, I think it will be good.

I will know more tomorrow!

Well that's why it's good to let the pro do their job. I could never connect a problem you had no your wrist with your neck but you see what the pro can do. I often times have the same issue of staying too long before getting my issues treated. I hope you get your wrist back in shape

Oh well. Good that you're making some changes before it gets too bad @exyle.

Have you tried yoga at all? My partner is a keen cyclist and also drives a lot of miles every weeks but has started yin yoga which works on the connecting tissues etc rather than the muscles. It's done on the mat and you hold the postures for 3 to 5 mintues. It's made a big difference to him.

It's the only class I've been to where there is a large proportion of men.

Hope the nutritionist isn't too stern with you! 😂

I have tried yoga. I used to be pretty flexible :)

Flexibility is a fraction of what yoga is. Though no doubt you will get strong and flexible with practice. .....but it's so much more 💗😁

Hi @gillianpearce! I noticed the word 'yoga'in your post so i had to check it out 😉 Yin is awesome! I am teaching a yin & nidra class tonight. Have you ever tried nidra? 💗 restorative also holds a special place in my heart. Though for the most part I adore all of it! I attribute my dedication to the practice as a huge reason why I am ok after my crazy car wreck last year. It also helps greatly with recovery. I am looking forward to the day i can enjoy a good solid practice again. Until then, restorative & yin & nidra will get me there. Do you practice?

I'm just doing yin at the moment @yogijill, I have knee problems and I found the standing postures in other classes were making them worse. Nidra I've done a bit of after finding some lessons on youtube. The studio I go to doesn't offer it. Restorative I have yet to try although I think there might be a class locally. 😍

Good stuff 💗💗💗 it's awesome you've done nidra on your own!! Such beautiful moments 💗🌻💗 ahhhh! I am hoping to offer these types of classes through dLive soon 🤞 if you're into practicing at home, you might like it! Take good care of those knees & yourself! Lotsa love! 🙏

I am so sorry that you are slightly ill. But don't worry. Follow the advice of the doctor. Because we all know that health is wealth.

Be well off sir @exyle.

Oh yes, my friend, when our body begins to show disruptions and pain is increasingly manifested in different places, this is a signal for a more serious attitude to yourself and I am sure that you will pass it without problems, especially as I understood, the experience you already have there is. I wish you good luck, my friend! Thank you Mark.

Hi exyle,

Nice to see you sharing you life situation.

Stay strong...you will be alright thru all these challenges.

You are welcome. Be strong.
