Vlog 229: Reasons to blog everyday + Powerdown statistics look good.

in #life6 years ago (edited)

A question I often get is why the Estimated Account Value in your wallet goes up and down.

The reason is pretty simple, it's based on a 3,5 average of the STEEM price.

So when STEEM price is $8 for 3,5 days then an account with 1000 STEEM is worth $8000.

When the STEEM price drops to $4 and stays there for 3,5 days your account value is now $4000.

The same goes for payouts on your post. That's why they fluctuate.

Reasons to blog every day.

75% of a payout on a blog post is for you. So If you get a $100 payout. $75 is yours.

That $75 is divided into SP and SBD. The difference is that the SP is divided by the current STEEM price and the SBD is not.

37,5/$3 (current STEEM price) = 12.5 STEEMPOWER.

37,5 SBD = 37,5 x 1 dollar (worth of STEEM) = 12.5 STEEMPOWER

Total: 25 STEEMPOWER for this post.

But as you know the SBD is trading for much more than it should. So normally it should be the equivalent of 12,5 SP on this payout but it's worth 40 SP at the moment. 3x times as much!!

So instead of 25 STEEMPOWER for this post, you get 52,5 STEEMPOWER (12,5 + 40).

That fact alone should be worth blogging every day for because it's easy to see that with every blog post created way more SBD are created than STEEM.

The amount of SBD on the market will increase at a rapid pace and it's already happening. In the long run, this will lower the price.

Now that's one reason but there are more reasons to blog every day and I talk about those in my vlog.

Power down statistics.

388,000 new STEEM created last week, 930,000 STEEM powered up and 543,000 less liquid STEEM on the market.

Very good numbers.

I'm starting to be a fan of this gif image. He's one of my favorite hollywood actor by the way ^_^

I've been slacking on the blogging part as of late. Hopefully the summer months will will get me out of my cave and actually doing interesting things.

But I think it is better to chose the 50-50 payout option when making your post, then then you can purchase Steem with your sbd and power up. From your calculations above, does it mean when you used the 100% power up, the author's reward will be divided by the current value of dollar? If so, then the 50-50%option is the best.

You are right. 50/50 is the best under these circumstances.

Today's vlog is really helpful and mostly for new steemians, I also have been explaining much about how post payout is being divided.
Am sharing the link to my group chat, so they can also learn.
Thanks for sharing @exyle

Nice video! I appreciate the breakdown! It's hard to explain this to people unfamiliar with the platform. That's one thing I'm working on now. I want to get better at attracting a bigger crowd to the platform. There's a learning curve for sure! I'm selling my SBDs each week right now for Bitcoin. Kinda hedging my bet here. But willing to buy STEEM at the right price. Probably $0.90-$1.50 range. Doubt I'll get that $0.15 STEEM! :-) Thanks for the post and reminder to be consistent!

thanks for information on steem ,sbd and strem power ☺

Thanks for the explanation, I was wondering why the account value would go down all of a sudden!

you are welcome!

Oh! I didn't realize that before.
It requires 3.5 days for account value to be updated, as I thought it's instant.

Also, I didn't know that getting 100% sp of reward will give me Steem equal to SBD.

I agree with you that numbers will increase and price of SBD will be lower if difficulty not increased, but in the long run, I guess steem price will go up.

So, according to what I understood:
If Steem price go up >> SP reward will be lower amount.
If Steem price go down >> SP reward will be more amount.

and for SBD, It doesn't mater if the price go up or down, because the network already calculatr it as a stable at 1 USD all the time so the reward amount will stay as it is now.

Did I understand right ?

Thanks a lot for sharing this info with us, and I hope from you to share more info about Steem in your upcoming posts :)

Mark @exyle I like how you put it all in perspective with your DTube this morning. What NEW Steemians should keep in mind is Be Consistent in your Blogs and don't give UP when you think it's not worth your effort..................

Definitely @stokjockey, I also think that people should not forget that it's all about the fun with posting content on this platform. As long as you like what you do, it's always a win-win.

Nice video. I am always selling SBD for STEEM or other coins. I agree that price is too good, but I am not complaining. Anyway tnx for sharing your insights.

Believe me I'm not complaining either :)
