I never snored when I was single.
Ever since Bianca and I share the same bed I started snoring and it’s getting worse. It's strange because I never snored when I was single.
Bianca says I even stop breathing in my sleep at times. I guess that’s pretty serious.
At first, I thought that having a few beers every night had something to do with it. So, I cut that completly for weeks but it didn’t change a thing. (truth be told I was actually happy it didn’t....I did lose some weight, though)
So, after some more weeks, I decided to make an appointment with my doctor. When he heard about the stop breathing part he sends me straight to a specialist.
Visiting the specialist
I don’t know what it is about specialists. They are simply not made to be nice. The hospital is the meat house and I’m the next cow in line.
I sit down
Him, 'Do you go to the dentist, are your teeth/jaw ok?'
Me, 'yes.'
Him, 'When did you last go?'
Me, 'eermmm......about 4 years ago. (damn now he knows)'
'Ok, sit down here.'
Him, 'Nurse grab the tube.'
He sticks the tube up my nose before I know it.
I’m uncomfortable as hell. I never had a tube up my nose before. He doesn't care.
Hum Hum Hum
Him, 'Ok..breath out slowly.'
The tube comes out.
'Sit down there.'
Him, 'Your Tonsils are enlarged. Might be the cause of problems. The operation is not nice.'
'But first, we are going to do a sleep test to see how bad it is. Go to the nurse to make an appointment.'
'Bye.'
4 minutes later I’m back outside. Nose-violated.
I have made an appointment for the end of March and just in case also with the dentist.
Ooooof. Poor me.
Wish me luck.

This sounds exactly like what we went through with my 4 year old son. He too started snoring very heavy and would stop to breathe for several seconds. It's called sleep apnea and it's very dangerous for you health. It often leads to more sever issues. So they sent us to see a specialist and it was determined that his tonsils were enlarged and that we should have them removed. We did and it made ALL the difference in the world. His breathing is so smooth now it's remarkable to see the difference. Plus he doesn't get as many colds as he used to before. If you do need to have your tonsils removed, hopefully you will see the same results. Either way, I hope you find a good solution. Good luck!
Amazing reply. Thank you! I do get a lot of colds and throat infections so maybe removing them would work for me. It's just not an operation I look forward to. I was happy to read your son is doing much better after the operation that's great!
Uhm ... maybe when you were single, there was nobody to tell you that you were snoring ?
You mean: "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
I refuse to believe this :)
