RE: THE HISTORY OF AN ICON.., AND THE LOSS OF IT'S SOUL

in #life7 years ago

This is a great post! It's a bit of a dreadful view of the city though. It seems to glorify the times of high crime simply because it was more affordable to live here.

While I don't agree with the pricing of the city, it is nice to be able to travel around many parts of the city now without the overwhelming fear of being stabbed or shot. Granted, time of day and which street you're on could still result in either of those things, but it's much better now than the 90s and earlier.

Thanks @evolved08gsr!
I hate having such a dreadful view of the city I was born in.., but it has (or is) being turned into a shopping mall for the tourists and a playground for the wealthy. I agree, it is nice to see people travel to different parts of the city at all times of night, without the fear of God in their eyes. But that air of danger is part of what gave NY'ers that "Sixth Sense." Homelessness is off the charts, while the average one bedroom apartment rents for $3,600 per month. "The City That Never Sleeps" is becoming the "The City For The Rich Only."
