Annoying fiddler
In history of mankind making things with your own hands have been mandatory. Even if crafts are mostly free time activity now days, I my self want to keep these dying skills alive. How to create something just with your own two hands. It might seem like waste of time making things the hard way, and it kind of is. There is easier ways, but is that as rewarding as making things by your self from scratch?
Some wool yarn and a few knitting needles is one way for me create something crafty. Basic idea is quite simple, and you can do knitting without studying things ahead too much.
SO WHY TO DO CRAFTS THEN?
I like to create stuff that I can give a way. The joy I get from giving a gift that I have done my self rewards me highly. Not only I get joy from giving a crafty gift, knitting soothes me down. I'm one of those peoples who always fiddle something. Annoying huh?
I have to do something with my hands so I can concentrate better. When doing something familiar with my hands it kind of relief anxiety in social situations and make you listen more carefully. For me the key to concentrate is fiddling or doodling. Sounds familiar? A lot of people do this without even noticing. And people who don't need to do anything to feel them selves concentrated get annoyed by this.
Making crafts makes you also grow as a person. You get used to it that things happens kinda slow and you have to work for it. Patience has never been my virtue, but knitting also helps me to grow my self better nerves.
Being able to connect with materials and transform them into something beautiful is something I´ve admired in people. Whenever I go visit mother nature I gather materials to create something. It´s funny how people give too much importance to stuff they shouldn´t...
I used to smoke to improve synapsis and concentrate better but I found out that humming, playing a song with my tongue (I scratch the tongue against teeth to certain rythm) or even holding a pen between my smoking fingers and playing with it, has the same effect on me... altough ocasionally I still have the good ol cig.
When I quit smoking, it effected to my ability to concentrate a lot. Fiddling became even more annoying habit:D
Always wanted to try myself at carving wood and woodcrafting. but never actually dedicated time to it, and it is also pretty messy if done inside the house. So another excuse :/ Maybe I'll start soon, who knows :)
