It was INSANE!!!
It lasted 2 more weeks. They got the prompters to cancel the contract by not serving liquor (slick move).., but no house staff showed up. They got catering bartenders to stand behind the bar and pour soda into plastic cups -- I can't believe they didn't get killed. But what really pissed-off the GM and Big Mike was that they knew the people that robbed them showed the next week to party.

I wound up working for the same GM in Malibu Ca -- he opened up a country western bar on Pacific Coast Highway right across from the beach. He couldn't take NY anymore -- talk about a change of scenery :))

I'm sure Cali was much more laid back! It would be fun to have a few drinks and hear these stories in person. I might make it to NYC in 2017. My brother works for Saks and travels there quite a bit. He's been asking me to join him.

Bro -- they had no idea what to make of all our nightclub stories in sunny Malibu... But I lived in out there for over 10 years and I loved it -- it was definitely my home. Especially coming from somewhere cold.., you really appreciate it. Everyday is sunny and beautiful (a little over cast), you have the beach and the mountains. Plus, there is some good "writers" history out there... A buddy of mine was living in John Steinbeck's old house.

I'm sure you did appreciate it! My parents lived in Florida for about 8 years and it was so nice to go down and spend a week with them in the Winter to escape the snow. They missed the change of seasons but I really doubt I would. You can always travel to snow if you miss it that much.
