What do you do to calm down?
'Distractions' are almost always a useful means for switching gears to calm down. Some personal favorites include:
- doodling whatever comes out with just a pen and paper (can't ctrl-z or erase)
- word puzzles
- 50 or 75 jumping jacks
- partial or full epidermal exposure to cold water
Of course, the #1 way to calm down is in the title of the post. ☺
