RE: Now I Will Show You A Picture of What I Did Today (Doesn't that sound exciting!)

in #life7 years ago

I’ll admit voting is addicting as heck. Thankfully I earned voting slider not to long ago which has made life much better. No more of me running down to 20-30% voting power. I’ll still dip below 50% but I try and be more mindful these days.

I thought vacations where supposed to be away from the thing you are… oh nevermind… You can't escape a time traveling cat!

Is there “candy” inside of that cave or are you just that happy to see us?

Sort:

Nope, that's candy.

I'm sure it is ;)

I've been managing my voting power since the beginning. I think it was one of @sykochica's guides that taught me about how important it is to monitor voting power. Before I got my slider, I would head over to busy.org sometimes to use the slider there. I actually still like that one better, because it shows you how much the person will be getting.

I try and make sure to educate the people I catch voting excessively. I even yelled at @NoNamesLeftToUse The Writer/Artist Himself once for using too much of his voting power on me. Then, I am pretty sure he upvoted my comment.

For now, I tend to upvote posts at 100%, comments at 50%, and follow-ups at 25%. I also started supporting the @utopian-1up curation trail recently as I just really dig the whole utopian.io thing. I'm only active for a few hours a day usually so using those figures I'm not having a huge VP problem right now.

If that approach stops working I will have to maybe move to 90%/40%/20% or lower.

I was voting up comments at 10%, but only giving out half of what that vote could actually be worth. Now, I'll be able to vote 5%, and maybe a little more often.

While I wait to be charged up, I'm conducting a little experiment as well. A few experiments, actually. I'm happy with the results of the experiments I'm not saying much about, so far.

As for voting up posts... I think, rather than dropping random bombs on people in the form of large votes, I'll be giving consistently smaller votes to more people. In the long run, they'll actually earn more this way. If I hit five posts out of seven with 25% power, that's still better than one post out of seven at 100%. I should be able to manage that better. Some days I go a bit overboard on the 100% votes because the posts deserve it. Then, I can't do anything for them for a few days. That's not working, and that's what drained my voting power.

It's crazy to think of being in a position where your voting power is high enough that people really notice when you don't! If/when that happens for me, I think it will major stress me out. Mine is starting to get up there; it's nice to be able to move the amount up a little at least, but it's not enough where people would be disappointed if I didn't.

Anyway, I always appreciate, but you're my buddy whether you upvote me or not! It's made a huge difference for me, and I always smile when I see it, but just do what you gotta do!

The voting power hit 100% a little while ago, so I quickly went around and voted as much as I could for now, then it'll charge if and when I finally decide to sleep.

I certainly don't want to disappoint people. I'm not in the business of building people up just to break them down. I've had solid support come and go over the many months I've been doing this so I know the feeling isn't good when it happens. It seems every time I get the ball rolling towards the next tier, I get cut in half, but I keep on going like a madman! Even on my days off, here I am.

This little waiting game and experiment has proven a lot to me. I've met some damn good and genuine people here. Class acts. Yourself included.

Another way I can help is to encourage anyone else who might read this to check out @kayclarity's blog. She likes to sing for us, her writing is top notch and she works hard.

I've never cared much. I vote how I see fit and if my voting gets a bit low I just turn it down a bit. Either way I still gain 20% back per day.

You have more SP then me but are at 1/3 the curation rewards. Far to many people try and stay inside this magical "80%" envelope. Then I see them sitting at 100% for half a day or days on end. Heck if I know I'm going be gone for a bit I'll just start burning.

You have more SP then me but are at 1/3 the curation rewards.

Yeah, I don't place a lot of priority on curation rewards. My Steemit "high" comes from clicking buttons that magically give people money. Sometimes they click my buttons too, which is cool, because that means I can trade that money for more SP and click their button some more next time.

I've had a rather inactive few weeks, which might be what you're seeing curation-wise too.

hehe I don't care about it either. I think I could be earning like x3 or x4 if I "did it right." aka being a shill for top 1% by getting in before the autovotes hit them lol.

I think it's short-sighted to do things like that just to maximise curation rewards. Nobody is going to want to use a platform like that.

Ironically, curation rewards come purely in the form of vesting shares. That means curators, of all people, should be doing what's best for the platform. It's in their own best interest! WTF?

I swear I'm in an upvoting war with a cricket!

Kind of strange for a cat and a cricket to be communicating. The world must have lost its darn mind!

Your show of force was formidable but completely unnecessary, cat.

I have no quarrel with you, but observe that I, too, can increase my voting weight by one per cent.

hehehehehehehehehehehe I yield sir I yield. take my petty vote as a sign of such.
