My Top 10 Scheduling Tips
I think every woman needs a schedule. If you want to find the time to write, read, put daisies in your toes, have more fun, be more consistent, or create and follow through on your goals, then I think you need the focus a schedule will bring. It is not restrictive, it is what you make it.
Quick tips to scheduling success
Relax. Jesus has given you the wisdom to raise your kids, use it and trust it.
Don’t schedule too tightly. Scheduling in 15 minute (or less) increments is too tight.
You can only fit so much into a day/week/month. Drop the least important it will be OK. (Because remember – I’m OK, you’re OK and dog gone it people like us. :) )
Remember that you can always change things, but give it at least a week before doing so. Just write your notes on the schedule. By the end of the week you’ll have had time to chill and figure out if you really need to change things or not.
Give yourself margin. This means lots of wiggle room and downtime for both kids and Mom. Boredom is NOT such a bad thing.
If you get off track it’s OK just move on. This day will come around again next week.
Change the entire schedule if and when necessary. It’s truly OK to do this.
Make the children more independent if needed. This is SOOOO hard for some people (like me). I want to be involved in EV-ER-Y-THING. But seriously, step off, your kids will thank you and you’ll have more time to serve in other areas.
Post copies on a wall or on the inside of a cupboard door AND give each person in the family a copy.
Enjoy the peace that a schedule brings.
