Zen Mountain Float Experience!

in #life9 years ago

Wow, what an experience!

So I had my first ever Float experience today at Zen Mountain Float and Wellness here in Kimberley. It was unreal and amazing! I have wanted to try out a sensory deprivation chamber for years as it is a great way to connect within and develop many abilities. Turns out some fine folk here in Kimberley decided to make it truly available. The Float tanks are huge and the 1000lbs of salt in 10 inches of water keeps you well elevated! I have like zero body fat and was floating easily! I requested the lights off for the full deal, you could have them on but I wouldn't recommend it, you can easily just stand up and open the door if you get disoriented.

As for the experience, very interesting indeed! As the lady told me afterwards it is a practice, much like seated meditation. Except hardly feeling your body, it is a learned thing for sure. I had a few times I was able to sink deep inside and be still. I found that the breath is difficult to keep flowing, maybe a mixture of the salts, humidity and weightlessness the lungs have to get used to it for sure! You can even stretch out in there fully up to a 6ft person I would say could stretch their arms up and not touch the tank. Everything in there is Canadian made even :) and made for luxury for sure, their spa is top notch, they also offer a number of other unique things as well, to see more check out their facebook page or website link below.

When I first got in and lay down, it was a delightful experience to just have your body scooped up in body temperature water! After a minute the light goes out and shit gets real! You are in there with yourself and that's it! My energy body was spinning clockwise at first after some deep breathing and stretching that was calmed down. I did some breathing, mantra, stretching. Some self reiki/qigong. The salt makes your skin super silky and slippery as well, albeit it is about sensory deprivation, it is quite sensuous haha! For me I found it difficult for my neck to unwind, this is good to note, in the experience any tension you are holding in parts of the body become very apparent as you lose feeling with many parts. If you can become completely still this really comes into focus. Then you have a better idea of what shape your body is in and what needs more attention, in this case my neck was super tight and my lower back. You can feel the tension unwind as your relax deeper into it. They said it takes 3-5 times to be able to fully relax and let go and be immersed in the experience as best as possible, looking forward to my next float and I will let you know about it!

All in all a great experience and I look forward to trying it again. Also finished it off with an executive pedicure which was awesome, thanks Justine!

If you are in the area, go for it, it is a very cool tool for self work.
