RE: Helping My 10-Year-Old Study For A Test - Ended Up The Student
Whatever religion one practices it's important to know the historical context of its development.
I'd have preferred if in such classes they thought the tenets and history of several major religions, but that's a terribly unrealistic request, I understand. But even if one doesn't have a spiritual bone in their body, adapting to a shared culture of the region will always be a valuable social skill.
Major religions and their history are part of the national curriculum. But not everything can be taught at once. The basics of Christianity are taught first.
