5 Simple Tips: How to Stop Being Lazy

in #life7 years ago

Ever found yourself lying down on the couch and thinking “I have so many things that need to do but I’ll finish it later” Fast forward two days, lying down in the same spot, the same position and think the same exact thing.

Here are 5 simple habits that can make life more productive and lot less lazy.

1. Respect yourself

Beating yourself up over apparent laziness is the least productive intervention possible. Beating ourselves up, even if attempting to become motivated, is actually much more likely to make you feel guilty, frustrated and even more unmotivated than before.

2. Small Steps Lead to Big Things

If you expect overnight change than expect to fail. Laziness is a big obstacle to overcome and large changes are not likely to transpire unless motivated beyond what most people can anticipate. Set small goals such as cleaning one part of the house or completing a small portion of your work. As you reach these small goals the motivation may begin to grow within oneself and chances are more work will be completed due to that motivation.

3. Close off escapes routes

If you find yourself running to the computer or the TV when laziness creeps in. Get rid of the TV and computer. Unplug them and make them less accessible when laziness sets in. Chances are if you are that lazy you may just avoid plugging the computer or TV back in and get some other work done.

Examples: If you are into gaming hide the controller in a part of the house that is furthest from the preferred gaming console.

Unplug the TV if watching shows is your vice. Don’t just unplug the TV, get rid of the internet connection if it is a smart TV and even unhook cable!

4. Write your goals

Take the time to thoughtfully think about what goals you want to obtain and give them to someone who will hold you accountable. Choo somebody that you would feel bad about letting down. Keep a copy for yourself and mark off any goal that you complete and keep track of how well you are doing. You'll feel more motivated as the list of shrinks and accomplish all the work that needed to be finished.

5. Actually, appreciate your lazy time

You found a time to be lazy make the most of it. Do something that you truly enjoy and don’t waste it just lying around the house watching a show you don’t enjoy or surfing the internet for something that may be a little interesting. If lazy time is truly enjoyed, then you may feel more motivated to get busy and finish up the task that needs to be completed.

These are a few tips for improving motivation and become less lazy. Nothing is wrong with being lazy unless it is affecting your daily life negatively. Take advantage of lazy time and make the use of it. However, don’t overindulge and make good use of time when things need to get done.
