RE: People’s words can have a huge effect on the lives of others

At heart people are all the same. It is unfortunate that you chose that username. I would have the same problem if you had chosen @christian1, @jewish1, @buddhist1 or @atheist1. A number of years ago I met a woman who was really into Star Trek. She would costume herself as a Klingon because she admired the idea of being a Klingon woman. It actually is part of the same thing.

You and I have a very fundamental psychological difference. You identify with your "group". You might not be able to relate to many people raised in the West because psychologically they identify as an individual. When you make a statement, people perceive you as part of a group and consequently if someone within your group says something stupid, or evil it is like you are saying the same thing. I choose not to be a part of any group. When I say something particularly stupid ... it is all me ... I don't represent any group.

People’s words can have a huge effect on the lives of others. Therefore, you should think about what you’re going to say before it comes out of your mouth – it might just be the difference between life and death.

Bringing it back to your statement, is the person talking to you as an individual or as an imaginary construct of you?
