Is this just a bad idea or an encroachment on rights?

Does the Sun revolve around the Earth?

Has the Earth existed for less than 10,000 years?

Are cigarettes good for you?

Is margarine better than butter?

Is the CPP Virus (ie the current strain of the coronavirus facilitated by the Chinese Communist Party) transmissible between humans?

Do masks fail to work for the average person?

Does human caused CO2 cause the current disruptions in climate?

These are examples of misinformation which have been relayed by societies and governments for hundreds of years. Most have been debunked largely through the efforts of people with contrasting opinions.

The federal government is considering introducing legislation to make it an offence to knowingly spread misinformation that could harm people, says Privy Council President Dominic LeBlanc.
LeBlanc told CBC News he is interested in British MP Damian Collins's call for laws to punish those responsible for spreading dangerous misinformation online about the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the object of this legislation is to prevent people from passing on information about "cures" or prevention, maybe that information should be handled though existing legislation. Consider our Chief Public Health officers or our Prime Minister. How often have they appeared on the television saying there is nothing to worry about or masks are not helpful?

Despite these assurances, Canada has started to see hundreds of people infected with the virus ... a situation which could have been prevented if the legislature had listened to "Misinformation" ... that the borders need to be locked down (we are still accepting "irregular" immigrants) that the flights into Canada need to be halted (there continues to be flights from China on a daily basis) and that asymptomatic people can pass on the infection (the people who arrive on these flights are not tested for the CPP Virus nor even have their temperatures taken.

If you are Canadian please pass the message to others that you know to contact your Member of Parliament to stop this legislation.
