I got a job as a teacher in the program of Additional Education of Adults and I start tommorow

in #life8 years ago (edited)

I already posted on Steemit about my last job, then I posted about my misfortune when I lost it. I really liked that job. Who wouldn't, I was a school teacher. Last few years I worked in a high school and in an elementary school and I really enjoyed working with kids. I am a specialist for problematic kids, actually, any of these kids who were problematic to other teachers weren't problematic to me. Wherever I worked, I was a favorite professor. It is not easy to say or even to think these words about yourself, but now, when two months already passed since I lost my last job, I can look at the things objectively. I am proud on everything that I've been trough with these kids.

This is a photo taken by me on my last day at my last job. Some of these kids were crying because I was leaving the school. I used to call them "Spartans".

Well, I am not a conventional, traditional teacher, but all of my colleagues were. I had different methods of teaching than them. I was a friend to the children, not a strict professor. I didn't want them to have any fear of me, so I was a eyesore to others. And that's all about my last job, I was very disappointed when I lost it but I didn't cry about it. I decided to take two months for myself to get some rest, then find another job.

I plan to start my own business but it goes very slowly and I have to do something! At least for some time, until the right moment to make my dreams come true!

My savings began to dry out so I knocked on the door of employment bureau. After two minutes of interview with this agent, she told me:

You should come to work for us! We started a program of free Additional education of adults and we need good teachers!

She explained to me that this job is not exactly a "dream comes true" job, but I accepted straight away.

I haven't worked with adults in education sector yet, so I had to make research to know what can I expect on the first day at my new job.

So, who are these people who will take my classes?

First I must mention that this is free education program for them. Actually, the government paid for it because there are many people who can't keep up with technology and, because of that, they are threatened to loose their jobs.
Let's take an example of a person who works as a cashier in a mini market and doesn't have any knowledge about software or some fundamentals in Microsoft Office. You must understand that the most of these people are much older than I am. The most of them will be retired in next few years and now they must learn all these things and it is not easy to them. It is still new to them.

Probably, in your country, you have a lot of older people who know to work on computers very well, but that is not case here.

I just hope that this is going to be a decent job. Well, it is only a part time job, I will work only 20 hours per week. The salary is not so perfect, but in this moment I would do anything. These people are not kids so I don't need to have any influence on their behavior and manners. If some of them are idiots, damage is already done and I can do nothing to change that.

When I worked with children I had to be involved in their maturing. I was responsible for them, I had to direct them on the right way to grow up in decent persons.

But here, I have to be only an educator. I guess that there is no any magic in this job, but it will do. At least for some time!

Good luck with your new job. Helping others is a noble endevour.

Thank you very much!

I am a teacher of some "Spartans" as well. Great name for them by the way... these "troubled kids" are some of the toughest people in the world. And I don't mean physically "tough" I mean mentally and in spirit. They fight every day to get the education that comes so easily to others. They will never forget you. I am glad you got a job educating adults. Everyone can benefit from a teacher who is willing to meet their students where each student needs. Good luck!

Thank you!!!

I wish you good luck!
All the best for your new and noble job.

Great post and good luck

Congrats on the new job

Thank you bro

I am a teacher as well. You could this parttime job, and use the extra time to build a tutoring business on the side. Just one idea.

Or create a Udemey course and sell that. Just a couple of thoughts.

Good luck!

Thank you @mctiller but my own business will have nothing to do with education
