Tales of Merlin the Puppy

One day, back when Merlin was a little puppy (about two weeks ago), and had only lived with his new family for a week or two, he was feeling a little bit left out. And a little bit like he was going to explode from all his puppy energy that was building up.

I must have a superpower! he thought.

It was a bit boring that day in the new house, because Merlin's new sister Ms 9 and mum had left for a bit of a mini break, and he had only been on two walks that morning.

So Merlin's dad @drwom decided to take him to the dog park.

Wow, thought Merlin. So many dog smells! But there were no dogs. That's a bit odd, he thought to himself.

Then some dogs came, but try as he might they didn't want to run or jump or wrestle or roll or chew his ears.

And they didn't let him chew their ears.

Back home they went.

That night, Merlin's dad took him back to that puppy park. This time was worse than the last time. So home they went and he used up some energy getting to now the neighbourhood having a walk.

The next day, with his sister and mum still away, and the sun just starting to go down in the sky, Merlin's dad tried again.

They got to the puppy park and no one was there. Merlin sniffed and wondered about who owned all the strange and exciting smells in the park. Merlin had a way of having a good time even if things weren't going his way.

And then, something did go his way. There was a dog. A fun dog. A dog who wanted to run. So they ran! A dog who wanted to jump and wrestle, so they jumped and wrestled! A dog who wanted to chew Merlin's ear while Merlin chewed his! So they did!

So much fun!

And later that night at home once again, Merlin's dad noticed a head pop up from under the back fence. So did Merlin. It was his new friend from the park!

Suddenly Merlin was under the fence and playing and jumping and chewing and romping again.

And now, most days, that's where Merlin will be if his family isn't home.

And he is a very, happy dog.
