Where will you be viewing from for this historic event?

Personally, we will be viewing from Nashville, Tennessee!
You wouldn't (or maybe you would) believe the hype that has been going on for awhile now. That's because Nashville is directly under the centerline that stretches across the U.S. for best viewing areas. From our viewing location, it's said that it will last around 2 minutes and 40 seconds, and it will be completely dark as if it were night. If the skies are clear, we may likely see stars!
Why is everyone hightailing it to Nashville?!
Many hotels are offering (expensive) packages for people coming in for the event, such as this one. However, a lot are already booked. Many farms are also opening up their properties in Nashville and in northern Nashville cities specifically for viewing the Eclipse. Most offering live music, food vendors, etc etc. Let this sink in... Many schools and government offices are closed on August 21st. Crazy, right?! This article claims, "It is estimated that for the eclipse, a minimum of 360,000 people will visit Tennessee and it is possible upwards of 1.4 million will make the trip." Many people around here are also selling shirts and hats for the event as well.

Good post, I heard reports of 500+ for a hotel room in a little Oregon town and the issues with bringing enough food and supplies to these towns to accommodate this huge influx of people. Check out my post for those of us not able to go.

According to this map, from my house "the moon obscures 97.4% of the sun." My kids are excited. We were thinking about traveling an hour to K.C. There it will be 99%. How much will it be where you live?

@Racheal737, it will be a total eclipse between Brentwood TN and Bowling Green KY, in our area. The closer you are to the center of that strip of land, the more even the corona will be. Close to dead center in my area is Cross Plains, White House, and Gallatin, even more so than Nashville or Bowling Green.

Total solar eclipses are events not to be missed, especially if there is one in your own country. I saw one back in 2002, with totality lasting all of 28 seconds! I believe the one coming up in August with last a whopping 3 minutes.
