I was happiest with a scrub, a backpack, messy hair and sweat dripping down my face...

A group of like-minded friends, we were dental students then, nothing but a backpack in scrubs. Transportation would vary, from military jeeps to private cars. It was hot, humid and far from luxurious. These dental mission aren't even credited for anything, we sometimes have to pay for our transportation and bring our sterilized instruments. We were not affiliated with a certain organisation or club, we were just us. We called ourselves org-awesome, solely to perform dental missions and give back to communities that cannot afford dental treatment or they are simply too far/ isolated.

I miss this so much and being in Canada, it's hard to fly over and go on missions with my friends. I learnt some survival skills, always be prepared. The most important things I would always have is a can of Coca Cola in my backpack, since my stomach isn't as resistant to germs and bacteria in the philippines. Coca cola was my saving grace, drink that it will kill bacteria IF I ate anything questionable. Also, had some toys from a local HK toy store that I would give out to the children.

I would glad join any mission trip. If you live in Canada and you are looking for a dentist for any type of medical mission, count me in!
