Paadhukam of GOD. Read everyone it's interesting.

This is the 'Paadhukam ' used to decorate Madurai Meenakshi amman with. There is a story related to this. During 18-19(1812-1828)century,Ross Peter was the British collector in Madurai. Even though he was a great devotee of Meenakshi amman, as he was Christian, temple entry was denied to him. He used to be sad due to the same. Once he had a dream and without realising what he was doing, he began to sleepwalk. The guards saw him and upon their inquiring only did he become conscious of his surroundings. He explained that he saw a girl clad in gold in his dream and she brought him there. Suddenly lightning struck his room and it tumbled down. Then Ross Peter realised that the girl he saw in his dream was none other than Madurai Meenakshi amman. He wanted to give something to the amman as token of his belief and gratitude. It is thus that this Paadhukam consisting of 412 rubies, 72 emralds and 80 diamonds was made and donated to the temple. Peter's name is also engraved in this. Till this day this Paadhukam is known as 'Peter Paadhukam'. On the festival day which falls in 'Chithrapoornima during the month of medam' this Paadhukam is used to decorate Meenakshi amman..
