Lazy Sunday Movie: Lunchbox
Yes, this is an Indian movie. No, this is not a Bollywood movie. Not even remotely. Yes, one of the main characters in the movie is a lunchbox. But it's not your regular lunchbox. It's one of the lunchboxes from the famous "dabbawala".
You know, "dabbawala" is a lunchbox system delivery, popular in India, but especially in Mumbai, in which hot lunches are delivered to people at work, from individuals or restaurants. Most of the deliveries are made by bicycle, or train. The system is famous for its size, precision (despite the lack of Western-like digitization) and variety. I didn't know anything about it before watching the movie, obviously.
Well, in this highly precise system, one day, a lunchbox is switched with another. By mistake, obviously. The lunchbox sent by a wife to her husband arrives at an accountant waiting to retire.
That's the plot.
I won't spoil it by diving into details, I will just let you know my personal opinion: it's one of the most vivid stories I've seen lately, filled with authentic emotions and humor. You won't find any of the shallow characters you would expect in an Indian movie (it's not Bollywood, again) and you won't find long, hugely choreographed songs. But you will find a beautiful, touching story about chance, love and decisions.
Here's the official trailer, enjoy!

Hello, Indian here,
I've watched this movie and its pretty good. To fully understand the emotions portrayed by the actor and actress, you would require some context of India's culture, where love between older people is still not quite understood. If you want to watch similar Indian movies, I would love to recommend some great ones!
