RE: # Dear Steemian, What Do You Think Can Be Done To Beat Depression?
I suffered from depression & anxiety for years & decided to go to the doctor's to see if they could help.
I was prescribed three different types of anti-depressants which, all made me feel worse. The first meds made me pass out within 3 days of taking them so, I stopped taking them.
The second lot made me tired all day, feeling a bit zombified & useless so, I gave up using those.
The third type of meds I tried, made me massively overthink things which, in turn ruined any chance I had of sleeping.
All three meds dangerously suppressed my appetite for food, life, everything.
I decided enough was enough & seeked alternative methods of which, meditation was the method I persevered with as this was the only thing that managed to help clear my mind.
Since I went with the meditation method, life seems to be much easier & calmer & has enabled me to have a more positive attitude for life & everything around me & I've had no need for the dangerous medications prescribed from the National Health Service.
I'm not saying that I never get depressed now but, when I do, I can think myself out of it without poisoning myself with big pharma drugs.
Meditation changes your whole perspective in life for the better & helps you to let go of any bad past or negative emotions & move on, at least it did mine.
Give it a try, you have nothing to lose & everything to gain.
Love, peace & light to every one of you!
I take it that you are from UK too, from the mention of the NHS. Mindfulness has definitely helped me a lot, although I must confess that I have not made mindfulness or meditation part of daily routine and I need too.
I completely understand the feeling so tired every day feeling side effect, and how suppressed they make you feel. I stopped taking them at a time I had to make a life-changing decision to make sure it was the right one.
Yes, I am from Norfolk in the UK.
I am so pleased that you managed to stop taking meds as I'm very confident that they are not good for you (they certainly weren't good for me) especially when there are other safe alternatives out there.
Thanks for your reply & I wish you the very best in the future.
Love, peace & light my friend!
