YOU DONT NEED A JOB - YOU NEED WORK - There is a big difference

The difference between work and job is a big one, and it comes to mind every time I hear someone talking about how much they hate going to work. Blasphemy! Know the difference.

One cannot hate work.

Work is something spiritual. It benefits the mind, body or spirit, if not all 3. As a person who reads and deals in old books for a living, I can tell you that the word work is never used to denote labor that doesnt provide a huge benefit, minus the money of course.

When you go to the gym, it is not called jobbing off, or laboring on. Its called "working out". A good workout will benefit your mind body and spirit. You dont need to get paid for it, as its reward is inherent.

Your work can give benefit to others as well. But lets be clear, if you are at the place where you earn your living, and cant wait to clock out, cant stand the people around you, and would rather be doing something else, dont call it work.

You are an artist, creating a work of art in the gym. And art is always its own reward.

But there is a twist.

Teaching, for instance, is a perfect example of work, but there are plenty of teachers in the state school system that really dont like being there, and have little to no pride in what they do, or are supposed to do. They are clearly not putting in work.

Conversely, one may work at McDonalds, which is typically not work, but make it work, because they may be learning social skills, or just having a good time, having their spirits raised, or raising those of their peers.

Imagine that you were not getting monetary reward for your labor. Is there a party that benefits from it in mind, body, or spirit? That is the measure.

The great adepts of all ancient mystery schools have shared in The Great Work, as they defined it, and it was not merely labor for money. It was, and still is something for the betterment of the mind body and spirit of humankind.

Work should be something that comes from deep within, and gives one a sense of pride.

Every person should have work at least, because then you are better prepared to deal with a job. But take that work seriously, no matter how small it may be, because the better you get at it, you could one day be one of the lucky ones that gets paid for it. Thats the epitome of great work.

Find work; quit the job.

With love,
Doc

oh yes, love what you do!! :)

Indeed! Nice post.

In my case, in order to be capable of doing reliable work, we must first have a job. I mean during job, we have small but secure wages. We use that to pay for daily expenses and some portion we save for capital. While doing job we searh for the best works that fit our interest and capabilities.

got me all hyped to invest in myself! cheers, @docdelux

Great post!

Love it! Redefine "job" into "work", as the "WORship" of ones ability and power to self-"K(c)reate" and claim your authority and power to decide your own experience and expression within whatever you do. In this world there are unfortunately many circumstances that are less than ideal, but we still have that power to make the best of it by making it about creating ourselves rather than slaving away at a "job". Thanks for the insightful post docdelux!

I have been working for the past few years, took a job to support the work, and now I am in the slow process of quitting the job as the work could start to provide for itself.
I have so much inspiration because of the amazing people around me and this platform which shows so many opportunities.

It's an awesome occasion to be part of this community. To thrive into a better world find the spirit and the creativeness of real development and ideas @erikdenoorman!

Great post @docdelux man I never looked at it or thought of it that way. No wonder many entrepreneurs say you must put in work because they don't work a job. I must take this post to heart and pass it on to my business partners to help them think outside the box and stop using that work in the wrong context. lol. looking for more posts from you wise one!

Great piece of work there my friend! Upvoted and resteemed as more people need to read this! :)
