Changing the Narrative
Hey guys! I hope your week started well. Mine did.
So a lot of people have been taking about the rape and kidnapping allegations Dorcas Sola Fapson made against the taxify Driver. I wasn’t even going to say anything about it because it’s hard to tell who’s telling the truth. The topic is very sensitive and I often trigger people with my opinion🤷🏾♀️. Anyho, I’m not here to talk about who’s lying or who’s telling the truth; I just want to share my opinion about some issues surrounding sexual assault in general.
Women are now speaking up against sexual assault. It’s an amazing thing. No one has to be ashamed of being a victim of sexual assault. You’re not the problem. That being said, I’ve heard stories where girls have accused guys of rape because of their own selfish interest. It’s not fair to tarnish anyone’s image because of your selfish interests. These false rape stories will force women who have actually being sexually assaulted to shy away from sharing their story and getting justice. Women would go back to not being able to speak up because of how the world would scrutinise their stories and try to find loopholes.
I was on instagram the other day and on Funke Olotu’s story, she said that women who have been accused of faking their rape stories shouldn’t resort to cursing and wishing rape upon the people who tagged them liars. I support her one hundred percent on that one. How do you want to stop something when you keep promoting it? It’s alright. Everyone won’t believe you. The people who do are the only ones who matter to you.
People, stop blaming a girl for being sexually assaulted! She shouldn’t have dressed that way. She should have had company, why would she walk alone at night? She was asking for it! She can’t say no to her boyfriend or husband. It’s rubbish! Little kids get raped all the time, are we going to blame them? Did they ask for it? Do they have breasts or bums to wiggle and attract these men? Honestly, we need to stop making excuses for rapists. A woman should be free to go out at any time. Yes it’s not safe, because of a lot of other factors asides rape. But to blame a women for an ugly act that wasn’t committed against her will is just plain stupid.
That’s all I wanted to share with guys. Let me know what you think. I love to hear from you guys.
