Don't Just Live to Pay the Bills

The modern society's promise of comfort and security can be alluring. People have evolved, or not, and have been using their fullest potential to this day. There's no going back to the primitive for sure. It could have been a perfect world but thanks to humans. The problem is that people have sacrificed their own freedom and happiness for this change. Throughout the history, you've seen the colonized, slaves and workers who sacrificed their lives in exchange for progress and development. The developed and forever developing world were born. The comfort you enjoy now has been paid by the blood of other people. The price of modern civilization. It is easier to be blind in order to move forward. But in exchange for the development, people now lack empathy. Perhaps you were not born yet or you are not aware of what is going on in other parts of the world or how big countries live off the war industry or how the international corporations get richer by taking advantage of the poorer nations. Empathy diminishes with distance and it is hard to feel if you are too sheltered or haven't suffered in your life. With that said, I am not a huge fan of modern civilization and the people in it, as it did nothing but harm. All it does right now is to favor the dominant forces of the society. All it does it to take advantage of the weak, the disadvantaged, and the people at the bottom of the food chain. I just don't see humanity and ethics in modern capitalism.

If you are just an ordinary person, meaning, you work to live and you don't sit around basking in wealth, then be careful what you sign up for. Big corporations around the world only get richer off the ordinary citizens. I'm talking about the power, internet, cable, computer, real estate, financial and mobile companies. They are continuously screwing people up on a massive scale and that's how they maximize profits. I believe this is not just a fantasy in my head or a mere conspiracy theory, this is just how the system works and it is happening everywhere in the world.

I had a think about this when I'm trying to let go of the bills I signed up for, surely, it sucks not to have some modern convenience in my life. I have to find ways not to be dependent and be able to control my own life. I realized that some things are just giving me more stress and anxiety.

It is all about distraction these days. People will sign up for cable tv, so they can sit, watch some movies and be unhealthy. They would prefer to have sleek smartphones to impress others so they would sign up for some contract with the mobiles companies. They would prefer to live in a posh suburb so they would rather pay the house all their lives. People are happier to have high-speed internet than to spend more time outdoors with friends and family. They would like some instant money and purchases so they get credit cards. People prefer the easy to worthwhile. Materialism does not necessarily equate to happiness so you still see people who feel unhappy and unfulfilled despite their wealth and possessions.

If you are not aware of how these big companies ruin people's lives then you are only perpetuating their unethical ways unknowingly. Making the few richer while the rest are on hamster wheels designed especially for them. Few people up there watch you go around and round until you feel totally depleted that you begin an existential journey. You start questioning the real meaning of life. The reality is that these corporations don't really care about you, but you care so much about them. They would rather keep you paying for life than give you back your freedom. There's no profit for them if you are living the life you want. There's no profit in freedom. You cannot travel or move somewhere else because you are tied to some company? You cannot quit your job because you are paying the bills or mortgage? You cannot start your own business because you are scared of competition? You get butthurt if someone criticizes your system and make you aware of its BS? You are tied to your state. Tied to your material possessions. Tied to your house. Tied to the illusion of security. Tied to the all-too-comfortable. Tied to your tribe. Tied to your culture. Tied to your lifestyle. Tied to your dogma. Therefore, you are a slave too. A modern slave you are.

Living your life on your own terms is hard. Freedom is hard. You choose the easy way for a price. Your life. Wondering why the modern society does not teach you how to be self-sustainable? Why are the alternatives not heavily promoted or advertised? You are not taught to enjoy life's simple pleasures because social media is the new religion. You thought you are better than the rest just because you are vegan? But in reality, you participate in the destruction of the environment on a massive scale. You voted for leaders who dropped bombs that kill children. You watch the royal family's events knowing that with just one sign of a check they could have easily eliminated world hunger. You cannot have your own energy or food source and spend more time with your loved ones simply because there's no profit in it. Haven't you realized by now that it is all about PROFIT? This is how the dog-eat-dog world operates. Right now it's all about distraction. Don't expect the system to care for your well-being. Don't expect it to care for your family. Don't expect it to teach you how to be independent otherwise you will no longer make the few richer that support it. Don't expect it not to kill other people. Don't expect it not to kill you soon.

Don't live just to pay the bills because the big guys you support will not even care about you in the end, out of the millions of people who do the same thing in this world. The system doesn't give a shit about you because you are not special. You are just one of the many who can get screwed up if you can no longer pay the rent, mobile phones, internet, mortgage, banks and many other big companies that taught you the illusion of comfort and security. If the modern society's promise of convenience is really the answer then how come many people are still dissatisfied and unhappy? Why not instead of living just to pay the bills, instead of perpetuating the system that enslaves humanity, why not choose the not-easy, the challenging, yet meaningful, fulfilling and a happier life?
