YOUR FRIENDS AND WHO YOU ARE
There's a popular saying which to me sounds valid but is still a subject of dispute amongst many.
SHOW ME YOUR FRIENDS AND I WILL TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE
Humans learn a lot from watching the actions of others. From childhood, we learn to walk, talk, dance, sing and even perform basic activities by mimicking others. In other words, we have an in-born tendency to learn from and act like others either passively or actively.
There is a school of thought that is of the belief that we can choose to pick habits from people or choose not to. This is true in some cases, but in most cases it isn't. The truth is, most of the time we don't even know we picked up this habits/characteristics. Even if we are not changed by the company we keep, there is a tendency that people will begin to believe we have been compromised.
It is necessary therefore, to choose the people we associate with wisely. The company we keep and our actions are the basis upon which people judge our personality. For instance, associating with criminals would only make you get labeled as a criminal while associating with religious leaders will get you labeled as a religious person even if you are not.
Choose your friends wisely. Opinion of others about you and your company matters to a certain extent. It affects the way they relate with you, the amount of trust they have in you, the amount of respect they have for you and also, the offers you get from them.
