The Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela illegitimate ordered the cessation of the circulation of images with women wearing little clothes in any periodical that is directed to the general public.

The decision is due to a demand by a private party against the sports weekly El Heraldo of the 6th Power group and indicates the prohibition of "publishing any issue of the said weekly, be it printed or digital and even by private subscription, of images containing cargo or content Sexually explicit or implicit, either through images, photos or advertisements and send to electronic addresses that can be freely consulted by children and adolescents.

Although the measure is against the sports weekly, it also extends to all print media in the country and its digital versions.

In the judgment 884 of the Constitutional Chamber of the illegitimate Court, it reads: "It declares the extensive effects of this decision and, consequently, to any complaint that is in the same case of the case".

The decision specifically refers to "pornographic" content; however, the connotation given by the Court is that of "images of women with little or no clothing, and in suggestive and compromising poses, which incite sexual stimulation for commercial purposes."

According to the Court, when the media publishes these images, it does not "observe" the responsibility that they have as "means of social communication, to transmit adequate information and as such publication is not only directed at adults but also at children and girls. teenagers".

This is a ruling that directly affects the main sports publications in the country: Meridiano and Líder. Both publish pictures of swimsuit models on their back cover.

"These sexual images do not contain a warning, which could have negative consequences on the basis of the most basic instincts and thus affect the constitutional rights of the most vulnerable, that is, children and adolescents," the text reads. .
