Remembering Good Ol' Days
On early mornings during the late 90s and early 2000, fog could be visibly seen in our little barangay. I could still feel the chill of the breeze that made my chubby cheeks pink.
It was those mornings that I yearn for again.
I would give everything for the same mornings when the smell of hot choco, fried tuyo, eggs and our childish laughters would fill the whole house. I miss those times when I dip my pandesal in hot coffee and I loved it. Meanwhile, my sister would eat powedered milk with rice and she loved it.
Those afternoons when my mom would tell me to sleep, and I would end up sleeping because at a young age I already love it. 😊 By the time I woke up, I could hear my neighbors chattering and the sky was already orange hinting that it's almost night.
The usual uncle riding in motorcycle shouting tinapa; the usual kuya with his putok bread; manong magtataho and our own glasses; the aunt selling vegetables and merienda - I remember their voices and faces. They are forever engraved in my memories and they made my childhood quite nostalgic.
On days when there's a storm and my sisters are asleep, I would busy myself with playing with my eldest sister's mini clay kitchenware. I remember how vast my imagination is and how I was contented with a blanket wrapped around me.
I would look at the raindrops from the window and daydream until my mom would call us to eat sopas.
As a family, we play scrabble on summer afternoons when my 2 older sisters are home for vacation. We would make our own halo-halo and eat it while playing. We always had a good laugh.
I remember those good ol' days as I drop my head on my pillow after a long day of work. Noel Cabangon's "Kanlungan" is playing in the background.
One of my fave song😊😊
it's quite a nostalgic song :)
