Women for a Cause

in #life6 years ago

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary and the 2nd Women’s march. As women it is so empowering and important for us to stand up and have our voices heard. This year the march in Los Angeles has speakers like Viola Davis and Natalie Portman come out to speak. We incorporated the times up and me too movement that is so important. I feel a sense of pride with my womanhood when I see all these beautiful powerful women gather and stand in unity. I think that this is our time to make a difference in humanity. So here is where my confession comes in. Last year’s March I was so excited for but then I was confused, what was the march all about last year? So many women came together and marched for what? Why is it we can have these perfect ideas to come together but have so many different agenda’s? Think of the power we as women could have if we came together like we did this year for a specific cause.
Women of Hollywood and the men that stand behind them are really stepping up and going all out to put an end to sexual harassment and to burn the casting couch. Ladies are lifting their voices if you have ever been in one of these kinds of situation, however I also would say compliments and questions such as would you like to have dinner or drink is not sexual harassment unless the person is using your job as leverage to get you to accept. I don’t want anyone to think I am on the side of these perverts but I want to make sure that good men don’t feel like they can’t even pursue healthy relationships anymore either. We as women should be able to tell the difference and stand up for what is right. Date who we want, dress how we want, and be fun and outgoing without being told we asked for it. That being said ladies be aware of who you surround yourself with and know that not all men are perverts some just think you’re beautiful and want to date you!
All can say is that time is up for those men and women for that matter than want to use their power to control others. Time for us that have had that #metoo moment to stand up and speak out and scream YOUR TIME IS UP!
