Homelessness
I know such a short post but I'm Very Curious...
I'm david http://www.steemit.com/@davidisfedup and I was wondering what are peoples take on homelessness in their area? So what is it? How do you feel about the rise in homelessness? Do you think there is enough being done? What do you feel about dedicated city property with tiny homes for the homeless? What are some of your idea's? I would love to know.
I was homeless about a year ago with my children - in Spokane, Washington. The provisions for the homeless are terrible! Sure, there are shelters, but you have a limit to how long you can stay there. If you're not a druggie or a domestic violence escapee, there is very little real help. Government housing is massively oversubscribed and underfunded. Families living out of cars is a real thing in Spokane. I was lucky, I managed to find a place - but in Wyoming, not Washington. There's lots of food and clothing for the homeless, but none of what matters most - HOUSING! When you are homeless, nothing else matters except finding a place to live.
I feel envious of third-world countries where I know I could at least squat on a piece of land at the edge of the nearest shanty town and begin building some stability for my family. This isn't possible in America... though unless things start to improve, it will be forced upon America as more and more people find themselves unable to survive.

Sorry its taken me forever to get back to your reply here, I've been going through a lot of issue while trying to come up with my posts on homelessness. It has been hard and part of me doesn't want to remember anything of what I have bee through.
@viking-ventures you are so correct, what we do need is housing. I found these really cute micro-pads you might like to check out. And I'm glad you like my posts as well - I write/post what is fun or what hits me on the day... There will be some health-related posts coming in the future. I also plan to share some of my creative writing once I've got a stronger backing... or I feel bored. ;-)
