BEING YOUNG
One of the greatest challenges I faced starting up as a purposive and focused boy was being young; the fact that I was quite very young. It threatened my courage, nobody could see that I had little insecurities about being young and calling myself a motivational speaker and life coach. You know because there's this societal bias that being young is tied to naivety; that being young means being wrong and inexperienced.
It nearly impended me.
I'll think to myself: “Am I not too young to speak to people..”
And even years back when I started this journey of thought leadership on social media, I wrote articles on love, relationship, and marriage. I wrote them with a pressing voice: “Are you not too young?”
I remember, many times some people, even a pastor I so believed in, told me I was too young for my dreams and I should pause till I clocked 40, that 40 is the age of fulfilment. I was down casted, for this to come from a man I thought would foster my confidence. I nearly gave up on being young and focused; ambitious!!
But..
No!
Joseph was only 17 when he had his dream. He was the youngest in his family but had better wisdom!
David was just a youth when he killed Goliath..
Timothy was a young man doing well under Paul.
Bill gates started his dream in his youth..
Mark Zuckerburg too!
So?
Why can't I feel enough as a young person who wants to make a difference.
I launched myself. It's been years now. I am still young; clocking 22 this year. Sometimes people question my ability; “You are still a small boy to talk about this..”
They make me feel so small for the wisdom I spew. And I've not let this bring me down because I have an understanding about being young.
See,
The devil is so tricky.
He makes youngsters believe that they are too young to be wise, too young to be different, too young to have a vision, too young to make sense...
But he never makes them believe they are too young to chase girls, too young to be promiscuous, too young to smoke weed, too young to join cult, too young to be a runs girl..
That's the trick.
And many youngsters have fallen for it...
There's just no difference, it'll take you the same confidence and vigour you use to be promiscuous as a youth, to have a vision. Really.
If you're reading this and you're young.
Please treasure your youth.
Youthfulness is the time to work, plan, do all what you have to do to secure your life because you are full of vigour and stamina.
Some young people keep fooling around with the mantra: “I am still young, I have time...”
No! You don't have time. There's no laid down rule that youthfulness is time for folly; that's your choice!
If you start early, you'll finish early.
If you keep fooling around till you're old, death might catch you while you're old and still working..
Youth is a time to plant seeds. To make sacrifices for your life.
And that's what I am doing. At 14 I discovered myself. At 20, I already read around 100 books. I am 21; heading to 22, I am the best but I have gone far compared to the average 21 year old.
And before I cook 30. I know how far God will help me go. Why?
I started the pursuit early.
There's no time to be reasonable. If you wait till 40, you'll be foolish till them. Age doesn't determine destiny. Decision does. Volition; choice!
Stop waiting for 30.!
Stop waiting for 40..!
If you can't start now, you can't finish then..
Overlook the talks challenging you for being young and daring the things you face.
They'll come.
You know one thing I've discovered?
Older unaccomplished and unreasonable folks get mad when you're young and making sense. It exposes their emptiness and they channel their frustration to you by undermining you but deep down in them they acknowledge your ingenuity.
What are you doing with your youth?
If you start pursuing your destiny as early as 17,18,19 or even 20, in your thirties, you must have gone so far than your average age mate.
There's nothing wrong about being young and wise. There's nothing wrong about starting young.
Please don't waste your youth!.
