Why the surprise? You bought something with BTC, which isn't "funny money". Seems like a normal transaction as far as I can see.

And so it should be, but many doubt that this is possible. I believe in crypto, but until you experience it, you tend to be a doubter. I feel like this is one of the small reasons why people diss Steemit so much, because they believe that BTC and STEEM is simply funny money.
