Don't mess with Mother Nature

in #life7 years ago

Man is knocked over while trying to take pictures in Key West of Irma caused waves.

Airport on Saint Maartens knocked out.  US and Dutch send military ships as rescue vehicles, airlifting survivors with helicopters.

If you haven't evacuated from Southern Florida, you have about one more hour at the most.

Time to head north is NOW !!

Best time to head north was several days ago.

STEEM On!!

Thanks for the updates....great pics.

People need to realize how strong mother nature can be. Hurricanes are nothing to mess with. Also, it isnt the wind that is deadly but the water. Between rainfall and storm surge, that is where the deaths are located.

You are right...people need to get out of the way of this....cat 4 or 5 hurricanes are nothing to mess with. So few thing that 120 MPH winds are like a summer breeze. It isnt.

Always better to get yourself and your family out than to mess with it. There is nothing admirable about being stupid. Staying through a hurricane is not heroic, it is stupid.

Glad you made it to Orlando. Much safer than South Florida

It turns out the eye went right by us on the west side of the city.

The mayor of Orlando, a lifelong Central Florida resident, said she never saw this much damage from a hurricane in Charlie.

It was a bad one for the state....

I do have to give kudos to the emergency management personnel....they really have their act together from the state to county to city levels.

Thanks for your posts alerting people to the plight of what was going on down here...>I saw you put a number of posts up.

In front of nature human is nothing this is shown by nature in these post.
The mother nature will create and destroy everthing. Thanks for sharing

Humility is important in the face of mother nature.

Those who talk of "fixing" the so-called global warming crisis are short on humility

Pictures are the last thing people should be worried about , in sure he didn't realize his life was more valuebale at that point , I hope people are okay and my prayers go out to everyone that faced the storm

Storm surge is always the biggest killer, hopefully the surge is not too extreme since the hurricane cut East as it went over Naples, and slowed down as it went over land. Result should be a storm surge less violent that previously predicted

A real catastrophe @davebrewer, this hurricane is doing a terrible thing from there and there is no salvation from it!

Survival is based on taking logical actions, like getting to shelter and not trying to take pictures of killer waves coming ashore.

Darwin will have his due in events such as this

dunno about heading north now....it's kinda too late.
there are no good options now..
like you said...two or three days ago

The weather channel had a guy in blue out broadcasting from Naples, right up until the eye hit around 4 pm Eastern. Up until that time, it would have been possible to get in a car and out run the hurricane.

It was only moving at 10 to 12 miles per hour. If you were a world class long distance runner, you could have outran it for about 3 or 4 hours, until you ran out of steam but the hurricane didnt.

What an idiot. Dude could have been easily swept away in seconds. The noise is incredible.

Live and learn, presumably

Their is an excellent work of rescue
Thanks for sharing these @davebrewer

Let's hope it waves over soon.

a very moving endeavor....
Good job and success is always for you @davebrewer.....

For those who don't know that monument is the southernmost point buoy marking the southernmost point in the US. It's stands 18 feet above sea level....
