Approximately 1% of human DNA specifies the proteins needed to carry out almost all critical biological processes of the body.

An additional 7% of human DNA is believed to be involved in switching genes on and off, in response to different factors in various parts of the body.

Approximately 8.2% of human DNA has recently been defined as being "functional DNA", based on most recent results from the Human Genome Project.   The remainder of human DNA has been declared to be "junk DNA".

Interestingly, this 8.2% of functional DNA is highly variable over the relatively short time span of just hundreds of human generations.

But large strands of so-called junk DNA have been shown to avoid accumulating major changes over hundreds of millions of years.  

Could this classification as junk DNA be another example of human hubris?  

There are large sections of human DNA which have been coded and recoded as relative constants over hundreds of millions of years.  The relatively smallish 8% of DNA which drives human biology and evolution is highly variable over  intervals of just hundreds of thousands of years.  But the blocks of DNA that scientists don't understand and have labelled as junk DNA act like a permanent unchanging biological hard drive.

Would a highly evolved alien non-human civilization be distinguishable from a God?    

Would a highly evolved alien non-human civilization have the capability to encode a permanent information/data record, that replicates almost perfectly for hundreds of millions of years, inside every human that has ever lived.  An engineering feat far beyond our current capabilities.  Arthur C. I offer as an hypothesis that current lack of scientific understanding of so-called junk DNA, doesn't mean there isn't some purpose and role for this large body of DNA.  Could there be a reason that "someone" devised an almost perfect biological hard drive that has operated for hundreds of millions of years?  This so-called biological hard-drive could be storing up to 10X as much information as is needed to encode a full copy of a functional human genome.  That is one honking big hard drive that holds a lot of information that is currently beyond our ability to interpret.  And that information is invisibly and imperceptibly copied into every baby in every new generation.  Wow !!

My conclusion on one place you could choose to look for proof of a God, is borrowed from the 1950s.

Humans should be humble.   The universe is much bigger than our current ability to understand.   And the universe contains many details that are much smaller than microscopic in nature.  So small as to be beyond our current ability to understand.
